Well it is finally here. After a lot of long hours and hard work by all those who contributed we introduce to you the First Approximation  of Recovery Strategies for Industrial Development in Native Prairie: Dry Mixedgrass Natural Subregion of Alberta. This is a new and exciting tool for restoration within the Dry Mixedgrass Natural Subregion. It is the first document in a series of new guideline documents that will address recovery strategies for all the natural subregions within Alberta’s Grassland Natural Region. A shift from reclamation practices based on controlling soil erosion and establishing grass cover to restoration of the predisturbance ecosystem and associated functions is underway in this province and therefore a document such as this is required.  The objective of this document is to help reclamation practitioners, landowners, land managers, and regulatory authorities to determine the most appropriate recovery strategy for their disturbance type, giving them site specific options and pathways to restoration. The recovery strategies presented build on some existing guidelines and information with the addition of new knowledge sources and technical innovations not covered previously. The document can be accessed by clicking the thumbnail below.
